The Kemp family were resident in Dunmow from 1890 when they moved into the White Horse PH, in the High Street. They were there until about 1905 before they moved to the Royal Oak PH, in Stortford Road. They were with the Brewers Webb & Gibbons, but changed to another brewer around c1909. This explains why I have postcards 1909 & 1910 where it looks like a normal house. They left Dunmow in October 1911 to live in a grocers shop, in Ilford, Essex, Kemp taking up a political position with an Association. They left c1915 when they moved to Great Yarmouth to run another PH. Whilst in Dunmow, Kemp was an Overseer of the Poor, on the local Council and involved in other activities. An encyclopaedia Britannica was kept in the Royal Oak for people to come in and look at. ***
