This pub was present at least by 1846 when it was called the Little Wonder, when the road was called Chestnut Walk. The pub was re-built in 1854 and had been re-named the Chestnut Tree by 1863, probably earlier, when the road was widened to become Lea Bridge Road.  In 2005 the pub was re-named again, and is now the Waltham Oak (2006) ** This pub is now permanently closed.
