This old pub had a beer licence since before 1869, it gained a full licence on 5th April 1957,
with the surrender of the Olde Shippe Inn’s licence, at Four Post Hill, after being heavily bombed during WW2. The pub was named after a warship that regularly docked in Southampton; the pub was originally owned by Scrase’s Star Brewery but was taken over by Strong’s Romsey Brewery.
The pub was compulsory purchased on 21st January 1962 and demolished shortly afterwards to allow redevelopment of the area. *
