DETLING with THURNHAM. -  Thurnham is in Hollingbourn union, the hundred of Eythorne, and is four miles N.E. from Maidstone. The church is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The living is a vicarage in the patronage of the Archbishop of Canterbury ;
the Rev. Edward Burney is vicar. The population in 1851 was 511.
