BEXLEY, with. BLENDEN, BRIDGEN, HALFWAY STEEET, HURST, and UPTON.
- Bexley is a village and parish, and suburban station of London, in the lathe of Sutton-at-Hone; is eight miles from Greenwich station, four from Abbey Wood, and four from Erith, on the North Kent line. The population in 1851 was 4,490. The church of St. Mary contains many ancient and curious monuments. The living is a vicarage, in the diocese of the Archbishop of Canterbury, and incumbency of the Rev. Thomas Harding, M.A.
This parish contains the hamlets of Blenden, with a population of 128 ; Brigden, with a population of 143 ; Halfway Street, with a population of 418 ; and Upton, with a population of 176.
There is a small neat church at Halfway Street, built and endowed by John Malcolm, Esq., of Lamerbey.
The Rev. William Bilton, M.A., is curate.
