Existed from at least 1791. The earlier name for Mouflets Hotel is the Rainbow, and changes name sometime between 1856 and 1869. It is named the Rainbow, Newgate street in the 1869 and 1870 license transfers. It reverts to the name of the Rainbow Hotel by 1899. Some alterations were made to these premises in 1897, and this may be the time when the name reverted to Rainbow. **
