1806/Mr Robinson, Nags Head, St John street/../../London Brewery 1806 customer for supplying the public with genuine malt liquor

The Old Bailey Proceedings from 1824 from the trial of my 4th Great grandfather George Oliver. ***

He stole 5 pound from his employer and asked for change from Sarah King at the Nagg's Head on 30 August. ***

SARAH KING "My husband keeps the Nagg's Head public house, St. Johns street, very near to Beckwith's (who he stole from) -the prisoner frequently came there. On Monday, 30th of August, about one or two o'clock, he brought a 5l note for change, which I gave him – my husband endorsed the note in my presence-I know his writing. I gave it to the officer (looking at it) this is it-it has his writing on it." ***

He was sentenced to death, aged only 13, but was awarded mercy and sent to Australia instead. - Source Old Bailey Proceedings Online (www.oldbaileyonline.org version 6 Trial date 16 September 1824) ***
