In 1914, my Great Grand Father Harry Grub was the manager, & was paid £11 15 shillings per week. As a child my mother told me that her granny had a pub, she said it was called The Duke Of Wellington. My family lived on 36 Birmingham Street. *

According to the 1914 service record for WWI, Harry Grubb was aged 35, and living at 46 Birmingham street. He lists himself as a Saddle Tree Rivetter. His wife is Florrie Price of the Duke of Wellington, Birmingham street. They married in September 1903. He also lists two children, Hilda and Florrie May. This all matched detail from the 1911 census.
His service record lists him as part of the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) to France (April 1917 to March 1919). He is a Sapper in the Inland Waters section of the Royal Engineers.
