Bull, Bull Road, Basildon

Basildon pub history index

The Bull public house stood in Bull Road (now Clay Hill Road), Vange. It was demolished during the early months of 1962 to make way for a new neighbourhood shopping centre when it was run by the brewery company Mann, Crossman and Paulin. Arthur and Teresa (Terry) Goldstone were the last licencees to live at the premises and they then transferred in November 1961 to the 'new' Bull public house which was built about 50 yards away at the junction with Timberlog Lane. The Vange sub-centre, now known as Bull Parade, and car park was partly built over the site of the former pub.
