This pub was possibly established in around 1630 and by 1752 was described as “ancient”. In the early days it was called the Ferry House Inn, changing to the Horse & Groom in 1802. Listed in 1848 White’s Directory as the Lea Bridge Tavern, perhaps erroneously. The pub had closed by 1860 and was demolished in around 1868 to make way for the Lea Bridge Waterworks. ***
