The pub was named after the Duke of Cumberland. The pub was run by Mathias
Cordery, Gent of Bromley Common. On his demise the pub was taken over by
his son, George Cordery. *
Sarah Cordery took other from her husband George when he died in 1837 –
her maiden name was Morgan and her brother George Morgan (Landlord of
the Crown, Sunbridge Park) took over on her demise in 1843. He
constructed a new pub at that time. George Morgan died in 1851 when the
pub was then run by others. Apparently the pub moved its location on
various occasions – its last location was built around the 1930’s.
