In 1806, My 3x Great Grandfather, Robert Cooper made his last Will and Testament - In his will, he describes himself as 'Master of the Ship Tavern, Woolwich'. *
He died in 1807 aged about 59 years of age, and (his wife being dead) it is likely that the license of 'The Ship' passed to one of his adult children, Elizabeth Ann Cooper , Charles Alder Cooper or Constantia Cooper. *
Later, Constantia Cooper married a William Shersby, who lived next door to the Ship Tavern at 2 George Street. *
William Shersby and Constantia (nee Cooper) later became licensees of The Coach and Horses, 56 Minories, Aldgate (shown in 1835 London Electoral Registers) and William Shersby is also shown at various other pubs, including The White Horse in Rood Lane (1843 ). *

What I am now attempting to achieve is the coverage of an earlier London
street directory in 1832. This is unique, plus
images of the 1842 Robsons directory which confirm earlier entries and also
carry much more trade detail about a premises or person. Here is the index of streets in 1832, many with
1842 imagery added.
And next is the complete 1940 London street directory - this will take some months to complete, so bear with me!
