The Three Tuns was built for William Hayes the owner of the St George's Brewery of Wharf Road in April 1834. *
The first landlord was William Hayes, In February 1837 the landlord, a man named Baker retired and the pub was put up for let.
The lease was taken up by William Harris. In March Harris was fined 16s 4d for staying open during service. In the license was taken over by Lawrence Bell.
In 1856 the pub was listed as the Great Northern with John Wardle as the landlord but by in the 1872 Directory it had reverted to the Three Tuns. By 1876 the pub had undergone another name change and was now called the Reindeer and the landlord was Joseph Popple. It continued as the Reindeer until 1983, when it closed. Following refurbishment the pub re-opened in 1984 as the Daniel Lambert. It closed in 2010.
