There are a  number of licensed premises which George Spreadbury can vbe linked to prior to the King Johns Head, one is the Weavers Arms, Bakers Row, Whitechapel in about 1842. Others prior to this are at Britannia Passage, Peckham in 1839; and Broadwall in 1837 - both of these adrresses are listed as him being a Victualler at the baptisms of children.

I am in the process of tracing my family tree and I have found out that my great grandfather was a licensed victualler, at 10 Abbey Street, Bermondsey. The 1901 census shows him living there with his wife and a barmaid. His name was Thomas H Veasey he was 35 years old. ***
