I am again tracing my grandfather, William Woodley Johnson Kirby. I found him in 1901 census working here. Amelia Rudd (the licensee) went on to marry Arthur Edward Page Chandler in 1906. The brother-in-law, Charles Rudd, became a friend of Grandfathers, and he was "best man" or stood up for grandad at his wedding in 1902. ***

My Great grandfather Edward Holland ran the pub and I was told he died in 1917 in the cellar! **
His death certificate states he actually died in Guys Hospital but I guess he was taken there from the pub.
His widow Clara went on to marry William Charles Quinn who then ran the pub with Clara and Edward’s son Frank.

1917, Edward Holland of 17 Riley street Tower Bridge road Bermondsey Surrey died 22 June 1917 at Guys Hospital Southwark Surrey Admonistration London 9 July to Clara Holland widow. Effects £135.
