I am again tracing my grandfather, William Woodley Johnson Kirby. I found him in 1901 census working here. Amelia Rudd (the licensee) went on to marry Arthur Edward Page Chandler in 1906. The brother-in-law, Charles Rudd, became a friend of Grandfathers, and he was "best man" or stood up for grandad at his wedding in 1902. ***

My Great grandfather Edward Holland ran the pub and I was told he died in 1917 in the cellar! **
His death certificate states he actually died in Guys Hospital but I guess he was taken there from the pub.
His widow Clara went on to marry William Charles Quinn who then ran the pub with Clara and Edward’s son Frank.
