Bethnal Green pub history index
The address is given as 13 Cock Lane in the 1788 Sun Fire Office insurance record, an older name for the street. * This pub is believed to have been established in the late-17th century and was rebuilt in its present form in around 1850. The address, 182 Church Street, has now become 34 Redchurch Street by 1944, and prior to this was at 34 Church Street for many years. It was renamed the Owl & Pussycat in around 1990. **
A listing of historical public houses, Taverns, Inns, Beer Houses and Hotels in Bethnal Green, Middlesex - now in East London. The Bethnal Green, East London listing uses information from census, Trade Directories and History to add licensees, bar staff, Lodgers and Visitors.

What I am now attempting to achieve is the coverage of an earlier London
street directory in 1832. This is unique, plus
images of the 1842 Robsons directory which confirm earlier entries and also
carry much more trade detail about a premises or person. Here is the index of streets in 1832, many with
1842 imagery added.
And next is the complete 1940 London street directory - this will take some months to complete, so bear with me!
