Old Blind Beggar, 1 Green Street, Bethnal Green

    Bethnal Green pub history index

This is a rather complicated situation. There was a pub called the Old Blind Beggar at the southern end of the Green by 1664 and it was still present (now at 1 Green Street) in 1829. In 1852 there was a pub at the same address (and presumably the same physical location) called the Falcon but by 1881 it was again called the Old Blind Beggar. The pub was re-built in 1887 and survived until at least 1941, again as the Falcon by 1899, but is now gone. [Green Street is now the Western half of Roman Road] ** The address for the Falcon, between 1856 to 1869 entries is at 1 Bethnal Green east. *
