In the Annual Rate book, parish of Fulham April 1901 it has James Fraser,
Beer house and apartments ( shops in street ) - Owner Miss Maria Baxter
James wife ( Susan Mclaren Mcnee, maiden name ), died in here in
September, 1899 of TB, James occupation is given as beer retailer - they had
3 children, my granny Anne who was 15 years and their boys Alexander and
John who were 12 and 10 years.
In John Frasers admission register at Harwood School ( boys dept ) the date
of admittance is 9/ 11/ 1897 and the home address is given as 575 Kings
Road, he left the school on 20/ 6/ 1901.
Alexander Frasers is in the admission register from 9/ 11/ 1897, home
Address is 575 kings road, and left 18/ 6/ 1901.
James Fraser is listed ( Rates) in April 1898, Adelaide, Beer house and
apartments.
James Fraser is not there in the April 27th 1897 entry ( its still a beer
house though )
They were at 38 princes street ( and Saunders Grove School, Hammersmith ) in
the early 1890's, the children were born in Crieff, Perthshire.
James was a photographer in Crieff and married there, he was born in
Kiltarlity, Inverness-shire.
James father in law ran a pub of some sort in Crieff, as did James for a
short while, before he left for London.
James father in law went on to build a successful business making jam in
Crieff, but his daughter is buried in Fulham cemetery in unconsecrated
ground ( for some reason ).
James had a brass telescope on the roof of 575 Kings Road, and he would take
"regulars" up to look at the stars at night if he thought they were
responsible. ***
James went to Canada with the boys and stayed there, my granny stayed in
London most of her life and did not leave during the war. ***
