Fubbs Yacht, 9 Brewhouse Lane, Greenwich

HMY Fubbs was a Royal Yacht, built in 1682 at Greenwich for King Charles II.
The yacht's name came from the King's pet name for one of his mistresses, Louise de Kérouaille, Duchess of Portsmouth. Fubbs meant plump, or chubby. The yacht was withdrawn from service and broken up in July 1781 after 99 years usage.
The original pub and most of the street burnt down after being struck by lightning on 7 July 1847.
The licence was withdrawn in Feb 1914 and the street was finally cleared in the 1930s during the building of Greenwich Pier and Dodd's Wharf. Cutty Sark Gardens occupy the site now. ***
