At the time of the 1939 Register (29 September 1939), Charles John Macdonald
was recorded as "Licensed Victualler's Manager" at 217/219 Uxbridge Road.
Charles John Macdonald was an uncle of my mother. She said that her mother's
side of the family (the Macdonalds) were in the publican trade, and at one
time managed pubs at opposite ends of the road. Her mother worked as a
barmaid for much of her life, and my mother grew up in Shepherds Bush. ***
