Yorkshire Stingo, 183 Marylebone Road, Marylebone NW1

Marylebone index

The address is at 12 Homer Place, New Road in 1856 and earlier (usually given just as New Road in the directories, and as Lisson Green in the Sun Fire Office insurance records), prior to street renaming. A record in the City of Westminster archives states that the tavern was built around 1680 and demolished in 1964, when it was demolished as part of the construction of the Edgware Road flyover. Some insurance records list the name as the Yorkshire Stingo Tap, suggesting there may have been a separate taproom (to the Yorkshire Stingo Brewery) at the same time, presumably nearby. *
