8 Cleveland street :

In the 1856 directory, the beer retailer at 8 Cleveland street is a William Hayden. This marries nicely with the 1853 Old Bailey case, when a William Haydon is noted as keeping the Dyers Arms, Cleveland street by both his wife, Mary Ann Haydon and also his daughter, Sarah Ann Haydon. The street is renumbered between 1856 and 1869, and this address is close to Union terrace in 1856, and close to Union street in 1869. This detail also links to the 1897 Diamond jubilee license naming the Dyers Arms, in Cleveland street.
