Barley Mow, 135 Salisbury Square, Fleet Street, St Brides London

St Bride pub history index

This pub was present by 1716. The address was later (post-1922) given as 9 Salisbury Court.
In the 1874 Directory, this pub was listed as the Barley Mow Tavern & Cogers Hall (the Cogers having moved here from the White Bear in St Brides Lane in around 1871). The pub was rebuilt at 82-85 Fleet Street in 1939 in very grand style, designed by Sir Edward Lutyens, as part of the new Reuters news agency HQ and seems at this time to have been renamed Coger’s. A licensed premises continues at the address today, called Lutyens Bar & Restaurant. **
