ANDERTON'S HOTEL, 164, Fleet Street. This house was given, in 1405, to
the Goldsmiths' Company, under the title of " The Horn in the Hoop.” Machyn
mentions it in 1557, and the register of St. Dunstan 1597, has an entry:“Raphe
was slained at the Horne, buryed.” In the reign of James the First, it is
described as being between the Red Lion, over against Serjeant's Inn, and
Three Legged Alley, over against Whitefriars.
It was rebuilt in 1880 and was demolished in 1939. **
Andertons Hotel, Fleet street is clearly marked on the 1893 Ordnance Survey, alongside Johnsons court and opposite what is then Pleydel court, earlier called Lombard street.

On the 3rd April 1663, the Horn Tavern is mentioned by
Pepys in his diary.
The List of Masonic Lodges for 1756 to 1769 name the Horn, Fleet street as number 33 in seniority, this record also lists its earliest date of being a Lodge as of the January 4th 1729.
The listing of Masonic lodges between 1770 and 1780 name the Stewards Lodge as meeting here at the Horn, Fleet street, with seniority now at number 60
