John Pond was a cousin of William Pond, landlord of the Fly and Bullocks/Butchers Arms, Cold Norton. John’s younger brother, Samuel Pond, was a landlord too. In 1871 he was landlord of the Bromley Arms, St Pancras. **

John was shown in the 1871 census as a Licensed Victualler at 280 Old Kent Road.  By 1881, John had retired and was living at 186 New Cross Road, Deptford. **
