The Freemasons Tavern is often quoted as having existed from about 1775;
but clearly it was about from 1720 at least. It becomes
the Connaught Rooms after being demolished in 1909 (probably earlier); it is listed in the hotels,
inns and taverns listing in 1829 and 1899, and as late as 1904.
In about 1775, the Freemasons Hall is built. The Tavern is the front house at the site, the back house are the meeting rooms.
