The numbering of the Strand was numbered earlier in the 1818 directory, numbering up to 487 Strand, whereas by 1832 it only numbers to 429. Looking at a 1799 map which also shows numbering, this is opposite the Hungerford market, and about where Duncannon street is now.

_ Smith was indicted for forging, and also for uttering, knowing it to be forged, a draft for ten pounds sterling, with intend to defraud Mr Capper, the proprietor of the Hungerford Coffee House, in the Strand.
