My 3 x great grandfather George Curtis, started out as a butcher in Ipswich in the 1820s. In 1851, at the age of 55, he was Landlord of the Green Dragon Inn, Bulls Head Passage, London. The Green Dragon appears to have many interesting connections including mention in Dickens' Pickwick Papers, Percy Bysshe Shelley's elopement to France, and also being the film location for the Leaky Cauldron public house in the Harry Potter stories!
In 1855 we have him at the Kings Arms, 19 Longford Street, aged 59. In 1863, aged 67, he was Landlord of the White Hart, Millbank-row, Wesminster. George died in 1867 and is buried at Highgate Cemetery.**
