This was known as “Storey’s Gate Coffee House” until about 1853, and some references call it that up to 1870. It stood at the junction of Princes Street and Great George Street, next to the Storey’s Gate entrance to St James’ Park. Newspaper small ads. from 1801 to the 1830s give the address as Great George Street, but in the Censuses from 1841 to 1881 it was 1, Princes Court. The pub was purchased by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers around 1910 and demolished to extend their headquarters. ***
