The House Mill, at Three Mills
This area looks pretty, and a worthwhile area to walk in & visit.
This reads, for those using text only -
"Welcome to 3 Mills. The cobbled area between the clock mill and the House Mill is a public right of way which leads to Three Mills Green and on towards Stratford."
"The House Mill, the oldest and largest tidal mill of its kind in the country has been wonderfully restored and is open to visitors on Sundays 2 - 4 pm May / Oct. General enquiries Tel : 0208 472 2829"
"3 Mills Film Studios is private property an all visitors are requested to report to security"
And now for a picture of the Three Mills ...
The House Mill, Three Mills, in June 2006
If you wander through, I did not stop to look at the buildings, there is a vast expanse of greenery to play, picnic and walk through.
If you have got this far on your walk, don't stop, there is the excitement of the West Ham Abbey Mills pumping station to come.
What I am now attempting to achieve is the coverage of an earlier London
street directory in 1832. This is unique, plus
images of the 1842 Robsons directory which confirm earlier entries and also
carry much more trade detail about a premises or person. Here is the index of streets in 1832, many with
1842 imagery added.
And next is the complete 1940 London street directory - this will take some months to complete, so bear with me!
