SHENINGTON is a parish in the union of Banbury, situate on the borders of Gloucestershire, 6 miles N.W. of Banbury, and 29 from Oxford. The church, which stands on an eminence, is of the decorated and perpendicular styles of architecture, dedicated to the Holy Trinity. The living is a rectory, in the diocese of Worcester, value 320 per annum, in the patronage of the Earl of Jersey; the Rev. Edward Robert Hughes, M.A., is incumbent. There is a chapel for dissenters, and a free school. The population in 1861 was 415; acreage, 1538.
