SIBFORD GOWER is an extensive township to Swalcliffe, on the Warwickshire border of the county, situate 7 1/2 miles S.W. from Banbury, and 24 N.W. from Oxford, in the hundred of Bloxham and union of Banbury. The church, dedicated to the Holy Trinity is a building of modern erection (1840), and in the early English style of architecture, with accommodation for 500 persons. The living is a perpetual curacy, annual value £120; the Rev. E. Eliott is the present incumbent. The Rev. E. Payne, M.A., is patron of the living. There is an endowed school for boys and girls. The Wesleyans have a small chapel here. In 1861 the number of residents was 482; acreage, 1650.
